The palpitating, hexing rock that comprises Sisser’s sound first began taking shape in late 2016. The band’s formation united Melissa Powers (lead vocals, guitar) and frequent collaborator Mark Easley (drums) with childhood friends and bandmates Bruce Klostermann (bass) and Shauna Sublette (lead guitar, keyboards, vocals).

Following a number of successful local shows, the band retreated to a cabin in southern Illinois. Under the engineering skills of Easley and Sublette, and a foot of snow that kept them stationed indoors, their week in the woods would give birth to the band’s first-ever recorded material, a release titled after the name of the town where it originated: Alto Pass.

After mixing by Sublette and mastering by Carl Saff, the band has made all 11 songs recorded that week available for download on Bandcamp, with select songs available for streaming on Spotify. While reluctant to call it an album, the band hopes that current fans and future listeners will see the release for what they believe it to be: a resounding, “Hello.”
